What is KAP ?

Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is especially useful when treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mood disorders. KAP integrates psychotherapy and ketamine infusions — both of which have proven effective for many people. In combination, they may enhance your results or extend them.

As part of our commitment to providing our patients with quality care, Zen Integrative Care offers KAP. The treatment of depression, anxiety, and other mood disorders is often very challenging, so you may be able to achieve better results when using KAP.

KAP Benefits

Ketamine treatments don’t necessarily require psychotherapy, but it can be beneficial. Psychotherapy or talk therapy is one of the most effective and common approaches to improving mental health. There is a good likelihood that psychotherapy will enhance the results you would otherwise achieve from ketamine treatments.

The benefit of psychotherapy is that it offers an opportunity for a person to process the experiences associated with ketamine treatments.

Although there is limited research on KAP and other psychedelic assisted psychotherapies, it is growing rapidly. To date, the results of existing research have been positive.

Is KAP Required for Ketamine Treatments?

It is not necessary to sign up for KAP in order to receive ketamine treatments. The majority of people will benefit from it, however.

Zen Integrative Care offers psychotherapy, you can pursue it on your own, or you may choose not to seek therapy at all.

When you are experiencing positive changes, it is important to continue to maintain this momentum through lifestyle changes and talk therapy, such as KAP.

Is There Recommended KAP

It is recommended that you schedule a series of therapy appointments in conjunction with your first series of ketamine infusions. Typically, patients schedule three therapy appointments around their initial course of ketamine treatment.
